Hello Netlify Support,
I am writing regarding an unexpected $220 bandwidth overage invoice I received while on the $19/month plan (1TB bandwidth limit). I would like to explain the situation and request a refund, as I believe the overage was not due to my own actions or negligence.
-
I actively monitored my usage via the Netlify dashboard.
-
When I saw usage approaching the limit, I disabled my project to avoid exceeding it.
-
I never received any email notification from Netlify about exceeding the quota.
However, despite my efforts, I still received an invoice for $220 in bandwidth overages.
After looking into this, I believe the issue comes from the difference between Beijing time (my local time) and the US time used internally by Netlify’s system:
-
I started my subscription on July 25 Beijing time, which was still July 24 US time.
-
Netlify shows my paid period starting on July 25.
-
It appears that Netlify’s system cleared my usage bar when it became July 25 US time, but internally still counted usage from July 24 US time into the billing cycle starting on July 25 US time.
Because of this, I believed my usage had reset, and I relied on that information to decide when to disable my project. This timing mismatch led to the overage invoice.
To summarise:
-
I acted in good faith to stay within the 1TB limit.
-
I disabled my project once the dashboard showed I was close to the cap.
-
The discrepancy between time zones and usage reset led to the extra charge, which was not my intent and not reasonably avoidable from my side.
I would like to request that this $220 bandwidth overage charge be refunded, since it arose from a system behaviour outside of my control.
Thank you for your time and understanding. I would greatly appreciate your help resolving this issue.
