Limitation of Netlify Identity

Hello,

I am new to NetlifyCMS and would like to have some details on how to use it.

Explanation,

We are a french association with 50 members and have a community of more than 2000 members.

We have forum, discord, facebook group and want to set up a static site via Hugo, but want an interface to allow everyone to contribute.

I have set up a static site plus netlifyCMS via Netlify, but this member limitation stuff is not really clear.

  1. If I understand correctly, by going through Netlify Identity, I have 5 accounts that can participate in enriching the site?

2.1) If the answer to question 1 is: that there is this limitation, is there a way to bypass this limit (other than the 15 euros per month/user of Netlify)?
2.2) I saw the possibility via Github, but is there a complete tutorial somewhere (not found, but my English is not exceptional, maybe I’m not using the right keywords, I did see the doc page on the subject).

I don’t necessarily need Netlify for the deployment of my website via Hugo, but I am convinced of the usefulness of an interface for multiple users.

Thanks in advance.

You can find Netlify Identity specific pricing here: Netlify Pricing and Plans

  1. 5 invite only members, or 1.000 users if registration is open to everyone

  2. It’s not €15/user/month for the CMS, but with the volumes you’re talking about, you will need a paid plan.

You can use the Github auth as well, but every user will need a Github account and write access to your repo, so that’s probably not advisable.

Thank you for this information, it means that if I leave open the inscriptions, there is the possibility for 1000 users to participate to enrich the site?

Can you confirm me? Because in this case, it would be more than enough because all the members of this community would not participate to enrich the content.

Thanks

Pretty much. The downside is that you have no control over who can access the CMS as anyone can sign up.
