Bandwidth overuse on static websites - 6-8GB per day

I have had these two sites online with netlify for a couple of years now. the traffic isn’t usually more than a couple of 100MB per day. Since May 2025 the traffic has gone up quite a bit. over 2-3 GB per day, with peaks of 6-8 GB. Both sites are static, so there is no reason for this spike. I don’t know why this is happening and if there is bot activity or scraping, I think Netlify needs to have a block. Instead I have been getting mails saying I am about to reach my bandwidth limits. I don’t understand how or why this is happening. I can’t seem to find more details in the Netlify insights tab.

  • I only have two static website projects on my account https://www.auralaser.in and https://hublikarconstructions.netlify.app - both websites I built for friends. The Hublikar Constructions website I actually have their domain service forward traffic to the Netlify domain, using a CNAME record I think. One is VueJS and the other is Nuxt. I know the assets are not optimized, some images are kinda large, but I haven’t had this problem yet. Don’t see why it should suddenly become a problem now. These sites have been up for a couple of years now.

  • I haven’t changed either website in a year. And, I can’t identify if this is a problem with one site or both

  • I tried to ask the chat bot, but that wasn’t all that helpful

  • I have been getting bandwidth usage updates saying i have used up 50%, 75%, etc. But I don’t know what to do, or how to stop it. I am including a screenshot of my usage.

I’ve routed this request to our helpdesk, we’ll follow up via email.
