Domain management > Production domains says that my primary domain is “Awaiting Netlify DNS”.
Domain management > HTTPS > SSL/TLS certificate says “www.kennethchenlab.com doesn’t appear to be served by Netlify”.
The chatbot says this happens when “the DNS settings at my domain registrar have not been updated to use Netlify’s DNS hosting”.
ICANN says my domain is registered with name.com, but name.com has no account for me.
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to Netlify’s Support Forums!
Looks like the NETLIFY Records were removed from the DNS Zone..
I’ve restored everything we have internally, however, if you had any other records, you’ll need to manually re-add them.
You should be all set, could you let us know if you’re still having issues?
Thanks seems to be working, I do have a little question which is probably outside netlify but trying to learn…
On my registrar (namecheap) I use my 4 custom name servers given from netlify. BUT if I want a subdomain on name cheap It does not allow me to use custom name servers.
However over on netlify here If I just add a new project and under domain management and give subdomainName.mywebsite.com will it work? without configuring it over on my registrar? Or how can I go about this. If my question makes sense.
PS. actually seems not to be working, when I visit the site
This site can’t be reached website.com’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.

If I understand correctly, you’re trying to delegate a subdomain using Netlify DNS with namecheap? If the bare domain for example, sitename.com isn’t configured for Netlify DNS, and you’re trying to delegate a subdomain for Netlify DNS, for example docs.sitename.com you would create 4 NS Records on namecheap and use the one Netlify name servers per record. Like this:
The screenshot was taken from the Advanced DNS page on namecheap. Those values are some of Netlify’s name servers (please don’t use them, you’ll instead need to use the name servers assigned to your Netlify DNS Zone).
If that’s not what you’re trying to do, please let us know.
You’ll want to ensure that you keep the NETLIFY Records that are within the DNS Zone. I’ve re-created the NETLIFY Records that we have for the DNS Zone and the domain appears to be working now, when I visit, it’s properly resolving. You’ll need to re-add any Records you may have had configured as we don’t have them.
Hi @Melvin , im having the same issues, my website was live with DNS 2 days ago but suddenly it stopped working, have added the name servers to my domain provider but nothing happens. Please its urgent.
Thanks for reaching out Sorry to hear about the issue.
Looks like the NETLIFY Records in the DNS Zone were removed. I’ve backfilled those records and the domain is now properly resolving for me. Could you let us know if you’re still having issues?
There is more information about why is should be deleted here:
The issue you are experiencing is not relating to Netlify DNS because your domain is using Cloudflare for DNS. The issue here is an incorrect configuration at Cloudflare. I have the solution for this posted in another topic here:
I also have a second post in the same topic that has an example screenshot of what the correct setting look like here:
If there are follow-up questions, please ask them in the topic I have linked to above (the one with 128555 in the URL) as your issue the identical to the others in that topic.
