Unexpected behavior: Got billed for free starter plan

Hello,
I discovered, that I got billed for additional traffic package. Looks like I have no tools to check why I have that unexpected transfer. It abnormally jumps to 3x of normal consumption.

Is it possible to change default behavior to turning site off till the end of free transfer window? $55 for 8 days is a bit expensive for me.

Is it possible to turn on pro account to debug higher transfer and skip $55 payment?

Thanks!

Hi, sure to investigate this further can you share the email associated with your account? I’m not seeing an account from the email you wrote in with.

Hello, I’m running into the exact same problem. I never knew I would be charged on the free plan, that makes no sense

@Nick01 It does make sense, because there is no “Free Plan”.

The “Starter Plan” has some generous initial inclusions however if you exceed those you incur charges.

No, it doesn’t lol, it just immediately charged me $55 while on a free plan. $55 for a static site is outrageous. I’ll upgrade to a free plan for $20 but I don’t think it’s fair to pay $55 for 100GB of bandwidth with no prior knowledge of the fact

@Nick01 What do you mean “no prior knowledge of that fact”?

Are you indicating that you signed up for a plan that you didn’t read the pricing information of?

Yeah pretty much, I signed up for Netlify like 4 years ago. And I just saw the notice reaching 90% of my bandwidth capacity which was sent yesterday and then today I was immediately charged $55. I didn’t even have a chance to do anything.

@Nick01 Ignorance is not usually a great defense for these kinds of situations in life, but I do believe Netlify can switch you to a Pro plan instead of paying the overage rates (which I agree are outrageous).

Yeah, I understand that, and I’m not arguing that. I’m fine with paying for pro as I at least get other benefits from that. My aggrievance is with the $55 charge for 100GB

Excellent! @SamO Is this something that could be done for @Nick01 (switching to a Pro plan instead of paying the overage)?

Absolutely! I’ll send your account over to our helpdesk, @Nick01, so we can help you there via email. Thank you @nathanmartin
