[Support Guide] How to set up Netlify DNS on a domain alias

Last Reviewed by Netlify Support: April 2024

Oh hey! Needing to set up Netlify DNS hosting for your domain alias? These three steps will show you how!

  1. If you haven’t already, first add the domain in Team dashboard > Domains and follow the instructions in [Support Guide] DNS Quick Start - How to set up DNS on how to use Netlify DNS to point your registrar name servers to Netlify.
  2. Check to see if the DNS changes you’ve made have fully propagated using a DNS check propagation tool like https://dnschecker.org/. It’s important that you wait until changes have fully propagated before proceeding to the next step!!
  3. Once DNS changes have fully propagated, add the domain alias to your site in Site dashboard > Domain management > Production domains. If all goes good, you should see a Netlify DNS badge next to it.

Congrats, you’ve successfully configured a domain alias using Netlify DNS! :tada:

Thanks for the instructions! :ok_hand:
