Nameserver delegation broken after domain renewal - ekohacks.com

Hi Netlify Support,

I’m experiencing a critical issue with my domain ekohacks.com following its renewal on 20 January 2026. The domain has completely stopped resolving, taking down both my website and business email.

The problem:

Running dig ekohacks.com returns NXDOMAIN, meaning the .com registry has no nameserver delegation for my domain:

;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NXDOMAIN, id: 43751
;; ANSWER: 0, AUTHORITY: 1

This indicates the issue is at the registry level, not with my DNS zone.

What I’ve verified:

My DNS zone within Netlify is fully intact. All records are present and correct:

  • NETLIFY records pointing to ekohack.netlify.app

  • MX records for Proton Mail (mail.protonmail.ch, mailsec.protonmail.ch)

  • SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records

  • Various other TXT and CNAME records

The records exist, but the .com registry doesn’t know to direct queries to Netlify’s nameservers (dns1.p01.nsone.net, etc.).

Impact:

  • Website completely unreachable

  • Business email down (Proton Mail showing verification errors)

  • Unable to send or receive email, which is affecting client communications

What I believe happened:

The renewal on 20 January appears to have cleared or failed to restore the nameserver delegation at the registry level. The DNS zone survived, but the NS records pointing the .com registry to Netlify’s nameservers did not.

What I need:

Please restore the nameserver delegation for ekohacks.com to Netlify’s nameservers at the .com registry. Once the NS records are in place, everything should resolve correctly as my DNS zone is already configured.

Account details:

I’d really appreciate a quick resolution on this as it’s impacting my business operations. Happy to provide any additional information you need.

My domain ekohacks.com is currently suspended with a clientHold status at the registry, causing complete DNS failure. This happened shortly after the domain renewed on 20 January 2026.

WHOIS shows:

Domain Status: clientHold https://icann.org/epp#clientHold
Registrar: Name.com, Inc.
Updated Date: 2026-01-21T23:29:08Z

The nameservers are correctly set to dns1-4.p06.nsone.net, and my DNS zone in Netlify is intact. However, the clientHold status is preventing any DNS resolution.

Impact:

  • Website completely down

  • Business email down (Proton Mail)

  • Cannot send or receive any email on this domain

Request: Please remove the clientHold status from ekohacks.com. If there’s a verification step I’ve missed or an action required on my end, let me know and I’ll complete it immediately.

Thanks, Anastasis

I have exactly the same issue. Have emailed Netlify support. Domain is kimhopsonstudio.com.

No email comms or notifications suggesting problem with payment - but domain shows as “renewing today” since Jan 20 renewal date. And also lists as “clientHold” under domainstatus.

I have the same exact issue here. Site is suddenly unreachable, no changes made in years

I believe a lot of people are getting this error suddenly.

Had anyone gotten a response from Netlify? It’s like no human help is available..the AI wasn’t helpful as I believe this is an issue on their end, not ours.

I’ve received no response yet. You’re right - this is not a problem the AI bot is equipped to handle.

I received an email right after I messaged you from a human with their support. They told me the payment for renewal failed and wanted to confirm my payment info. Not sure why it failed though it’s a valid card on file with money in the account. I told them everything is correct so now I’m just waiting to see if it cuts back on.

Support contacted me too about this @jhazenfi and it was caused by their switch to a new billing provider. My site is now working after support manually renewed the payment.
