Cloudflare DNS configured correctly, but Netlify remains stuck on DNS verification
Hello Netlify Support,
I need help diagnosing a custom-domain DNS verification problem that has now been ongoing for approximately five days.
Site information
Netlify site:
https://genuine-taiyaki-9a328d.netlify.app
Custom domain:
monumentbillboards.com
DNS provider:
Cloudflare
Current problem
Netlify has monumentbillboards.com configured as the Primary domain, but www.monumentbillboards.com remains stuck on:
“Pending DNS verification”
The site is deployed and the Netlify .netlify.app domain is available, but the custom-domain configuration has not completed successfully.
DNS configuration currently in Cloudflare
I have configured the following records in Cloudflare:
A record
- Name: @
- Value: 75.2.60.5
- Proxy status: DNS only
- TTL: Auto
CNAME record
- Name: www
- Target: genuine-taiyaki-9a328d.netlify.app
- Proxy status: DNS only
- TTL: Auto
There are currently only these two DNS records for the domain.
Troubleshooting already completed
- Added monumentbillboards.com to the Netlify site’s custom/production domains. Set as primary domain in netifly. Added/configured as the domain alias
- Confirmed that Cloudflare is the authoritative DNS provider for the domain.
- Configured the Cloudflare apex/root A record:
@ → 75.2.60.5 - Configured the Cloudflare www CNAME:
www → genuine-taiyaki-9a328d.netlify.app - Confirmed both Cloudflare records are set to DNS only / grey cloud, not proxied through Cloudflare.
- Confirmed the Cloudflare TTL is set to Auto.
- Saved the DNS records and allowed the configuration to remain in place for approximately five days, but Netlify still shows as Pending DNS verification.
- I have not switched the domain to Netlify DNS. I am intentionally keeping Cloudflare as the external DNS provider.
- I have reviewed the Cloudflare DNS page and there are no additional website A/CNAME records that should conflict with the Netlify configuration.
- I am still seeing the Netlify domain verification warning despite the DNS records appearing to match Netlify’s recommended external-DNS configuration.
What I need help with
Could a Netlify support engineer please check the domain and site from the Netlify side and determine why the DNS verification is not completing?
In particular, I would like to know:
- Is Netlify successfully seeing the Cloudflare DNS records?
- Is there an inactive or conflicting Netlify DNS zone associated with domain name
- Is the domain attached correctly to the Netlify site genuine-taiyaki-9a328d?
- Is there a backend/domain-verification issue preventing Netlify from recognizing the DNS configuration?
- Does anything need to be refreshed, removed, or corrected on the Netlify side?
- Is there a specific DNS record that Netlify is expecting that is not currently being detected?
I would appreciate it if someone could check the domain configuration on the Netlify side rather than simply sending me the standard DNS setup instructions, because those steps have already been completed and the issue has persisted for approximately five days.
