Hey @MariaV

If you wish to verify ownership (see here) by adding a DNS record (which is a TXT record) and you are using Netlify DNS, in the Netlify UI under Domains you would add the record Google provides.

Hi, I’ve tried doing this, by adding a new TXT DNS record under my domain:

  • type: TXT
  • name: google-site-verification
  • value:

and it does get saved, but the name of the record ends up being google-site-verification.mydomain

Is this expected?

Hi, @toniedzwiedz. Yes, it is expected.

If the name was not a subdomain of the apex domain, then Google would not know where to look for the DNS record. This is why the apex domain is appended to the name given.
