How to add CNAME record without appending the domain?

For one of the verifications, I require to put up a CNAME record without the domain name.

But whenever I submit the CNAME for the record, netlify automatically add the domain name. How can I avoid that?

That’s not how DNS works. Appending the domain is mandatory.

That’s expected and yourr verification will succeed.
