How can I use my SqaureSpace domain in Netlify

My site is currently: gasofa-tracker.netlify.app
I have just bought a domain from SquareSpace. How now can I use that domain into Netlify? I have folowed the steps, but then I got a SqaureSpace page which says ‘coming soon’ instead of my actual website. What can I do?? What did I do wrong?

Have you followed the documentation?

After you have followed the necessary steps, allow up to 48 hours for these changes to propagate.

Hi, I tried.
First and foremost I am new into this so I dont fully understand the documentation or the steps to follow. In addition the domain provider site is a little garbage and is not helping me.

I really dont get If I am suppose to configure a new brand DNS in Netlify and then use it in my domain page or the reverse. In the first case, which IP should I use?

Netlify says “if u need an IP” dude how do I know at the first point?

@6Cript The documentation that has been linked to doesn’t say that you DO need an IP address, it says IF your registrar requires. You probably do not need it. IF you do, you would acquire them how it says… (visit our Forums for a verified Support Guide on finding the IP addresses for Netlify’s name servers)

Ignoring that, if you’re completely inexperienced, you first want to determine…

Do you want to:

  1. Use Netlify DNS
(manage all your DNS records with Netlify)
    https://docs.netlify.com/domains-https/netlify-dns/delegate-to-netlify/
    or
  2. Use SquareSpace’s DNS
(manage your DNS records with SquareSpace, but point just the ‘site’ records to Netlify)
    https://docs.netlify.com/domains-https/custom-domains/configure-external-dns/

If you’re going with #1, then you follow the documentation that was already linked.
You follow steps 1 - 5.

As per the introduction note and Step #4, if you need help doing it in SquareSpace’s UI, you would consult their documentation/support.

The values you would enter are as per Step #3.

Simply ignore the note in Step #5 regarding the IP addresses, (unless you determine that you actually require them), you usually just enter the name servers as provided.

Thanks for all the replys. What would you do recomnend? I really dont mind use one or either. Which one is easier?

@6Cript I have no personal stake, and they’re both fairly similar to implement.
I suspect most people would say that setting the name servers is easier (using Netlify DNS).

Netlify would probably recommend using their DNS, as it provides additional features.
You can read more about them in the documentation here:

If you’re planning to use the ‘Free Plan’ exclusively, you may want to avoid using Netlify DNS.
This is because exceeding the site limits can disable your ability to receive email via the domain.

You can read more about it in this thread:

I’ve sent this request to our helpdesk, and we’ll follow up shortly via email to get this sorted for you. Thank you!

You may use Netlify DNS which is adding the 4 Name Servers to your registrar that is for convenience of managing the domain in the Netlify UI, though if you wanted to manage the domain Externally you can just point the domain to Netlify by adding the APEX Record and subdomain www Record.

Hi I followed these steps, but know I have my site that my connection is not private and something about HSTS and that I am under attack or something

I did this. I used the 4 DNS domains that Netlify provides in the SquareSpace page. Now I have this HSTS thing.

We’ve since issued an SSL certificate for your site, the NS records just took some time to propagate.
