Help: {Custom Domain} or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team

Good afternoon,

I am opening a support ticket so that I can get assistance setting up my custom domain name, and verify the domain for my account.

I purchased a domain recently for and would like to deploy this for my Netlify site.

I’ve tried to go through the process of adding the domain but get an error stating: ** or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team.

As I only purchased this a couple of weeks ago I’m uncertain as to whether or not it has been used by some else in the past or not, so would like help getting it set up.

I tried adding the DNS record today where I purchased the domain from for the netlify apex server, so hopefully I did that correctly. Could you kindly assist me in getting this all up and running and verified for use with my account?

Hi, @AlejoMac. It does appear that domain name is already linked to another site or Netlify account. There are two ways to resolve this.

First, if you have access to the Netlify account or site where this domain is already being used, please delete the other site or domain configuration there first (or ask that account owner to do so).

Once any DNS zones and site configurations for this domain are removed from the existing account, it will be possible to add it to your account.

Second, if you don’t have access to the other site or team settings, our Support team can remove the link between this domain name and the other Netlify site/team - provided you can verify ownership or control of the domain.

If the verification TXT record is created, our support team will be happy to delete the configurations for this domain from the other account.

Thanks so much for the response. I’m not aware of another account or site that’s using this address so probably need to verify it for use with my current account.

I’ve added a TXT file as suggested in the linked documentation under the Advanced DNS options with the provider I purchased the domain name from.

Please could you help me with verifying this and getting it set up for my current account. Hopefully I’ve done it correctly!
