Netlify seems to be extremely unreliable on commenting on our Merge Requests in Gitlab with the links to the deploy log, deployment URL etc.
For example, this deployment: Netlify
Was triggered when the MR was created in Gitlab, but Netlify didn’t leave the comment to say the deployment was ready to preview.
Sometimes it works fine, and there seems to be no pattern to it.
Why not?

your docs are misleading
Personal access token (PAT) required
If your deploy notifications stop working, you may need to add a GitLab PAT to Netlify. Learn more at our Troubleshoot GitLab notifications docs.
what does ”deploy notifications stop working” means? can this work without a PAT? or is the PAT ALWAYS required?
I COULD add a PAT, but It’d be much better if it just worked with OAuth
I set up a fresh GitLab repo and deployed to neflify. push events trigger deploys fine, but Merge Request comments are not showing up
