Free up domain registered through Netlify before its due date

Hello

I have registered a domain with Netlify and would like to make it available to others to purchase without waiting for its due date to arrive. Is that possible? I have already disabled auto-renew. Is there a way of giving up/cancelling a domain before its due date?

Hi @andrinmeier,

Unfortunately, no. ICANN mandates that after expiration, domains are kept on hold for 30 days for the original owner to renew it. I believe, after yet another month after that, it’s open for public purchasing.
