My domain expired because I forgot to enable auto-renew. How do I re-enable it?

It expired on the 20th. When I try to enable auto-renewal, I get this message:

When I submit a support ticket to support@netlify.com, it says I need to chat to the ChatBot because I’m on a free-tier.

When I talk to the chatbot, it says I need to submit a ticket to support@netlify.com.

If your domain was registered through Netlify and has expired, here’s what you need to know about renewal:

  • Within 30 days of expiration: You can request assistance with domain renewal by contacting support@netlify.com from an email address associated with the Netlify team that paid for the domain.

  • 31–60 days after expiration: You cannot renew or purchase the domain during this period.

  • After 60 days: The domain becomes available for sale to the public, and you can purchase it again as a new domain if it hasn’t been registered by someone else.

So now I’m completely stuck. Can anyone please assist?

@nathanmartin, thank you! Yes, this is one of the pending issues to be fixed with the rollout I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I was about to complete it a week or two ago, but a lot of changes came in mid-work, so had to incorporate those.

Rest assured, this will be fixed, and any affected users can simply reply to the same ticket for now.

To be clear, we will continue to block emails without a Netlify account to be able to send an email to support@netlify.com (the spam is just too much), but registered users would not run into this issue. Opening a ticket from Netlify Support will work regardless of the email (except for the everything else category - which we’re discussing and monitoring internally whether or not we should allow that as well).
