ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR on default Netlify subdomain (*.netlify.app)

Hi Netlify Support,

I’ve deployed a few projects via GitHub onto Netlify using the default *.netlify.app subdomains (no custom domains yet). Although the deployment logs show success and the project builds without error, when I try to open the site, I consistently get this error:

This site can’t provide a secure connection.
eatwellui.netlify.app sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Re-deployed the project manually
  • Created a brand-new site with a different name
  • Waited over 10 minutes after deploy
  • Cleared browser cache, tried incognito mode
  • Switched browsers and even networks
  • Tested on different devices
  • No custom domain attached, only default Netlify subdomain

It seems like SSL certificate provisioning is not working for the Netlify subdomain.

Example site URL:
https://eatwellui.netlify.app

Can you help me identify the issue, or manually provision the SSL certificate if needed?

Thanks in advance,
Burcu Taş

I’ve routed this request to our helpdesk, we’ll follow up via email.
