Assistance Required for Netlify Account Registration and Login Issue

Dear Netlify Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with an issue I encountered during my recent attempt to register for a Netlify account using my GitHub account.

I have never registered for a Netlify account before. Today, I went through the registration process, which involved using my GitHub account for login. After successfully completing the email verification and identity verification steps, which included uploading identification documents, I received an email stating “Identity Verification Complete. Your identity verification was successful.”

However, when I tried to log in, I encountered an error. The error message I received is as follows:

Authentication Error
Authenticating failed due to the following error: We already have a registered user with this email address. Log in to connect your GitHub account.

I am confident that this is my first time registering with Netlify, and I do not believe there has been any mistake on my part. I am unable to understand why the system indicates that there is already a registered user with my email address.

I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and provide guidance on how I can successfully log in to my newly created Netlify account or connect my GitHub account as intended. Thanks for letting us know about the login issue with GitHub. The usual solution for this issue is the following steps.

  1. Login to Netlify using the email address and password only.

  2. Once logged into Netlify with the email address and password, then change the GitHub account associated with this email address here: https://app.netlify.com/user/settings#connected-accounts

  3. Log out of Netlify.

Once this is done, you should be able to log into Netlify using GitHub or the email address. Both methods of login should work now. If they do not or if there are any other questions, please let us know.
