I would like to add a Null MXrecord (as defined in ietf rfc 7505) to the dns records, but the required dot “.” is not accepted as value.

Thank you for the report. I created an internal issue about this.
This is an interesting point since I never considered the fallback to the A/AAAA record for mail servers so our CDN nodes might bet getting some mail traffic
