Netlify freezes on loading screen indefinitely after login

I am stuck on the Netlify loading screen after attempting to log in. I normally log in with Github (I believe) but this time, when I tried that with my normal Github account (email address: jwhubert91@gmail.com) I was blocked and shown the message:

“Authentication Error: Authenticating failed due to the following error: We already have a registered user with this email address. Log in to connect your GitHub account.

I logged into Github to make sure it was the correct email address there. Then cleared my cookies and history from Chrome. I also tried with Gitlab which I occasionally use and received the same message.

I then reset my password in Netlify and tried logging in with my email address jwhubert91@gmail. After login, I get stuck on an indefinite loading screen. This happens on both Chrome, Chrome Incognito mode, and Safari.

Hi :wave:t6: thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately your site and account has been deactivated as you made a facebook poof site. This was reported by their phising team and as a result you have been banned from our platform. Phishing is not prohibited on our platform as documented in our terms of service. You will need to find another site to host your content.

Hi @SamO thank you for responding. I do not recall making a Facebook clone but if I did it would have been a hobby project several years ago while learning to code and I have no attachment to it at all. Would it be possible to delete the Facebook spoof site and re-enable my account?

At present, this email address is used to help with my client’s live website and is very important for my work. Thank you, and anything helps.

@SamO just to add a bit of detail, while I don’t remember the specific Facebook “poof site” in question, it is standard practice while learning to code to copy styling from well-known websites and there are tutorials all over the internet teaching people to code by copying styling from another website.

For example, the video “:red_circle: Build a Facebook Clone with REACT JS for Beginners!” on Youtube by Clever Programmer, a well-known and highly regarded coding instructor.

I can assure you that whichever site was flagged by the phishing team was done with no malice or ill-intent whatsoever and was likely just a CSS practice site while I was a student. I’d be more than happy to remove any such site if I am given access to my account in order to service my client, and I give Netlify consent to remove and delete any site which conflicts with your policy.

Thank you again and sorry for the long message!

Hi, thanks for sharing this additional details. Can you log a ticket with our helpdesk and mark the issue as signup/login? Please write back in when this is done so I can have our fraud and abuse team take a look and they will be able to advise on this.

Hi @jwhubert91 :wave:t6: thank you for your patience.

I have removed the block from your account. Please remove all phishing/spoof sites from your account immediately. This is a clear violation of our terms of service even if for educational purposes. We will not be able to make an exception again if we receive another report regarding this.

I encourage you to comprehensively read our terms of service to avoid issues like this in the future.

Thank you @SamO I have gone through and thoroughly searched any old sites including test sites and educational/practice projects to remove any that have any logos or similar styling to any other private company. I will also take another sweep to triple-check this meets the terms of service standards now.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and help.
