Netlify.app domains are unreachable by Google Fiber in the Southeastern US

All netlify.app domains are unreachable currently via Google Fiber in the Southeastern US / Atlanta-area region.

Problems:

  • netlify.app itself is also unreachable; www.netlify.com works fine.
  • TCP connections (ports 443 and 80) to Netlify edge IPs are silently dropped
  • Apex load balancer / AWS Global Accelerator are dropped for any SNI
  • DNS unaffected
  • ICMP to the affected IPs works

Evidence it’s some kind of filtering, not my equipment or your infrastructure being down:

  • My laptop was plugged directly into the Google Fiber jack, router removed.
  • tcpdump on my machine shows well-formed SYNs with zero response
  • traceroute -P tcp intermittently works
  • netlify.app is globally healthy via check-host.net, and my mobile connection is fine

The first Google Fiber hop responding on the path is 23.255.225.145 (GFIBER-V4). The drops occur at or beyond Google Fiber’s edge.

I’ll be filing this ticket with Google Fiber as well.

I’ve contacted GFiber and they have the details on their end too. The ticket on their end is # 08137303.

Update: they said to use this ticket - INC1696296 .

Netlify support: NOTHING on any netlify.app domain is loading. I’m not sure how many of your customers are impacted, but this could be a big blast radius. I have tried emailing you about this and haven’t gotten a ticket number from your system.

Still experiencing a total outage for all Netlify.app domains.

This outage is now impacting Verizon networks. This isn’t just us, this is all “netlify.app” domains.

Our revenues have and traffic have started to take a significant dip.

Netlify, why have you turned off support?

Still no support from Netlify. We’ve paid over $30,000 to Netlify.

I suspect one of two things is happening:

  1. A customer (perhaps a free user) deployed malware to netlify.app and ISP middleware just ingested rules that block netlify.app

  2. Netlify is blocking my devices for some reason. But that’s weird - I’ve tried multiple ISPs and devices. I’m 100% not running malware on my Linux box.

Symptoms:

  • DNS works
  • TCP fails to connect on :80, :443

OH MY GOD I THINK I KNOW WHAT THIS IS

If you show Claude Code your website and ask it to fix problems, Netlify has anti-bot middleware and will block your entire IP address.

Netlify, remove this. It’s heinous.
