_redirects file is not updating

My _redirects file is not getting updated (verified by downloading the zip copy)

I have tried clearing cache and redeploying. But the old _redirects file is still what users get, NOT, what is in my github repository.

are your redirects showing up as being processed after you deploy?

Yes, and I just found my mistake and corrected it. I should have seen my error sooner :-(.
