Getting authentication error when logging in to more than 3 different accounts

Hi, i’m migrating multiple client websites from Gatsby Cloud to Netlify, a task i’m already reluctant to do.
i’ve managed to log into 3 different accounts from the same machine and browser, but any subsequent account i’m logging via my client’s github account is leading me to an error page: Authenticating failed due to the following error: We already have a registered user with this email address. Log in to connect your GitHub account.

i’ve had my VPN turned on, is that the issue? as i understand Netlify is flagging me as spam.

Can Netlify explain to me how they operate? I don’t expect my clients to be able to do the necessary setup to migrate their site from Gatsby Cloud to Netlify hosting, so how are we supposed to do it?

Thanks for the help!

Hi, i’m not seeing that you are marked as Spam on netlify. Can your clients login and add you as a git contributor/user so you have access to their accounts without having to login individually to each account

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems like they’d need to upgrade to the pro plan to be able to do that. The concerned sites are simple static sites with low bandwidth and amount of assets, so staying on the free plan would make the most sense, just like it was on Gatsby Cloud. Do you have another suggestion to make this migration smoother?

in the process i also triggered a netlify account suspension for 2 of my clients by repeatedly trying to log in. they are now in the process of appealing that decision. for one of them the automatic ID verification didn’t work so they had to do a manual one which might take some time.

this is not delivering on the promise for a smooth migration and has been quite an unpleasant experience. i hope you can help me resolve this in an easier way.

For the error:

Authenticating failed due to the following error: We already have a registered user with this email address. Log in to connect your GitHub account.

The usual solution for this issue is the following steps.

  1. Login to Netlify using the email address and password only.
  1. Once logged into Netlify with the email address and password, then change the GitHub account associated with this email address here: Netlify App

  2. Log out of Netlify.

Once this is done, you should be able to log into Netlify using GitHub or the email address. Both methods of login should work now. If they do not or if there are any other questions, please let us know.
