Error when Enabling Visual Editing

  • Sitename: arshrai-portfolio
  • I am getting an error when I try to Enable visual editing.
    Steps:
  1. Click Enable visual editor.
  2. Click Save on the next page.

I see the following error (screenshot attached):

{“name”:“GithubError”,“status”:500,“message”:“Github: Generic error”}

Hmm bizarre.
Have you tried logging out of Github via Netlify (clearing all Github Oauth sessions)?

If this doesn’t work then I’d suggest removing Netlify’s access to your repos and then re-adding Netlify into your GH account.

Thanks,

Our team just released a fix that addressed a similar edge case that prevented enabling the visual editor. Could you try again and let us know if you’re still having issues enabling this?

Hey @sid.m, I am still getting the same error.

I tried logging out, but it did not work either.
I don’t want to remove Netlify access and readding at the moment. Proably when I have more time in hand. I can still push the changes directly , so don’t really need a visual editor. It would nice to have that convenience, though.

Sorry for the wait here! I’ve escalated this to our helpdesk, you’ll receive a follow-up via email shortly.

I am having the same problem. Is there a fix?

@effidigital this could occur for many different reasons, I’d recommend looking over the current requirements to ensure your project meets them and checking out our documentation regarding framework configuration and content sources:
