Domain abpro-academy.com already managed by Netlify DNS on another team

Hello,

Site name: abproacademy.netlify.app (project: abproacademy). Custom domain: abpro-academy.com

I am trying to add my custom domain to my Netlify site, but I get the error: “abpro-academy.com is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team”.

I am the legitimate owner of this domain. The Netlify DNS zone was created some time ago by a former colleague whose account I cannot access and who is unreachable.

Evidence of ownership: the domain is registered with Squarespace Domains (registered 1 May 2026, expiring 1 May 2027). It is currently delegated to Squarespace nameservers (NSB1 to NSB4.SQUARESPACEDNS.COM), not to Netlify, so the existing Netlify DNS zone is orphaned and unused. I have also created the ownership verification record you request: verified-for-netlify.abpro-academy.com TXT contact@abpro-academy.com, and it is live and resolving.

Could you please release the domain abpro-academy.com (and www.abpro-academy.com) from the other team’s Netlify DNS so I can add it to my own site?

Update, 25 August 2026. I managed to reach the former colleague who created the Netlify DNS zone for abpro-academy.com. He agreed to release it and told me today that he deleted everything on his side. However, adding the domain to my project still returns exactly the same error: “abpro-academy.com or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team”. I tested again several times today, on the apex and on www, with the same result.

So either he removed the domain from a project instead of deleting the DNS zone at team level, or the zone belongs to yet another team neither of us controls (the previous version of the site was built on a third-party platform, which may have created it under its own account).

Either way, at this point only Netlify can act. The ownership verification record is still live: verified-for-netlify.abpro-academy.com TXT contact@abpro-academy.com. The domain remains registered with Squarespace Domains and delegated to NSB1 to NSB4.SQUARESPACEDNS.COM, so the Netlify DNS zone is orphaned and unused.

Could you please locate and delete that zone so I can add the domain to my own project? Thank you very much.
