Custom_domain is owned by another account issue

my account is: Netlify App
the domain is: www.funkypickle.com

I’ve created the TXT DNS record called ‘verified-for-netlify’

basically I started setting the domain up on my dev account and suddenly realized it would be better to create an account for the client. Even though I removed the custom domain, it won’t let me register it from the client Netlify account.

Did you remove it from both the Custom Domains section of the site (https://app.netlify.com/sites/SITE_NAME/settings/domain) and from the Netlify Domains section of the UI (https://app.netlify.com/teams/YOUR_TEAM_NAME/dns)?
