Can I assign a subdomain (but not the main domain) to my netlify site?

Hi there!

Presently, site “mysite.io” is hosted elsewhere.
Question - can I assign subdomain “mygame.mysite.io” to my netlify app (presently running at myappabc.netlify.app), whilst mysite.io is still hosted elsewhere?

hi there tr0n, yes, you can host your subdomain’s site content with us, but you will need to use a DNS provider that is not NetlifyDNS to point to it

if your main site that is pointed to by your apex domain mysite.io is not a netlify site, then you can’t use Netlify DNS to manage DNS for it, as per our terms of service. resultingly, you also can’t for the subdomain. You’ll need a different DNS provider.

so as long as you are using a different DNS, then it’s not a problem!
