Awaiting Netlify DNS - Unstable

Details:

  • Netlify Domain: hits-daily-double.netlify.app
  • Custom Domain: www.hitsdailydouble.com (Primary) and hitsdailydouble.com
  • We are using Netlify Nameservers and managing DNS Settings in Netlify. There are two records:

hitsdailydouble.com, 3600, NETLIFY, hits-daily-double.netlify.app
www.hitsdailydouble.com, 3600, NETLIFY, hits-daily-double.netlify.app

Problems:

  • In Domain Management for this site, the two domains keep changing between a green checkmark and “Awaiting Netlify DNS”. It’s been 13 hours now.
  • At one point, they both were checked green, and an SSL certificate was successfully issued. Now there is a yellow warning that says “www.hitsdailydouble.com doesn’t appear to be served by Netlify. We can’t renew your Let’s Encrypt certificate automatically until the issue is resolved. Check our troubleshooting guide for more information on how to fix the problem, and then renew the certificate.”

I know that Netlify says DNS can take 24-48 hours, but I’ve never seen it take this long before. I’m concerned that maybe there is another problem here that we’re not seeing.

I ended up removing:
hitsdailydouble.com, 3600, NETLIFY, hits-daily-double.netlify.app

And replaced with an A Record. All seems to worknow, although I feel like this is a hack to make things work.

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know about this! Sometimes the DNS zone needs a resync. You can force a resync by removing the custom domain and adding it back, but I’ve taken care of the syncing for you and now Netlify DNS is properly provisioned. Will you delete that A record you have in there now? It will begin to interfere with the rest.
