A doubt: are nameservers necessary or just pointing DNS is fine?

Sorry for the question I’m a bit noob when it comes to DNS and nameservers and all this devOps.

I have already pointed my DNS towards netlify (I mean I configure the A and CNAME types, and DNS propagation time is not still over), but I have a question: is it necessary to change also the nameservers?

I would prefer to not change my nameservers if that’s possibile.

PS: I also have an old CNAME that I’m not sure if it’s safe to remove, so I left it on the domain configuration. Does superfluous CNAMEs types could interfere in the process?

There’s no need to change your name servers to Netlify’s. Our service works equally well with or without DNS under our control.

I am not sure what your old CNAME record is pointing to so I couldn’t really comment on that. Your SSL certificate has been issued for your site, so it didn’t interfere with that being provisioned which is a good sign!
