Netlify Forms suddenly stopped working - 3 days ago

Dear Netlify support team,

The forms on several/all of my sites stopped working 3 days ago, suddenly.

I’m getting a “HTTP ERROR 404” on all new form submissions.

  • I did NOT make any changes to the source code of the pages
  • I fully understand how to use Netlify Forms / Form Submissions
  • I can see the last submission coming through 3 days ago

When testing the form myself, I’m getting the HTTP ERROR 404 error message.

Can you please check what’s the issue?

One of my sites with a Netlify form embedded is: Launch Updates & JV Notification List

THANK YOU in advance!
Tim

Hi @timikels,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to Netlify’s Support Forums!

Looks like you were able to resolve the issue? I see the last form submission for the form named jvnotify was on November 5th. I also tried making a test submission and see that was received. I was also unable to reproduce a 404 error.

Melvin,

Kind of frustrating, to be honest…

I didn’t change a damn thing.

It suddenly stopped working… Then I created this post… And a few days after publishing it, the forms started working again.

I wish whoever did apply whatever change had the balls/willingness to share it with all of us. (likely someone at Netlify tech/support, but I can’t prove it)

The good news is, it’s working again indeed.

The bad news is, we don’t know why, only that the timing suggests someone did something.

Thank you for your help.

Tim

Thanks for the follow-up. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue when originally responding to this post. I also haven’t seen similar issues during that time period, so I’m also not sure why it happened.

If you do run into this issue again, if you could provide a time frame and the X-Nf-Request-Id of the 404 that’ll help us look into the issue. This guide will assist with getting the request ID: [Support Guide] Netlify Support asked for the 'x-nf-request-id' header? What is it and how do I find it?

Thanks a lot, Melvin, I appreciate your follow-up!

If I will ever run into that issue again, I’ll do exactly as advised.

Again, I appreciate it.

Thank you!
Tim
