How to share assets between multiple sites?

Hi, I would like to share assets/images between multiple sites. Ideally, I would like them to be reachable at assets.company.com and reference them from our different pages (e.g. company.com, app.company.com, blog.company.com, etc.).

Is it a reasonable approach to create a separate site pointing to a repository containing only images? Or is there a better approach?
