How to Point a Subdomain Name to an IP Address

Hello,
I would like to point a subdomain to an IP address I have. How should I proceed?
I understand I have to go to DNS settings and then Add new record. When I create the new DNS record, what should the name be if the page is a subdomain? Should I delete the records for the subdomain?

The name is the subdomain itself. For example, if you are creating blog.example.com the name is blog.
