DNS Issue: A DNS zone for this domain already exists on NS1, the DNS provider backing Netlify DNS

Hey support team,

I had a previous website under Netlify, and used the custom domain “wosborn.com”. Recently, I removed it. Then I created a new one to replace it and wanted to use the same domain name “wosborn.com”, that I’ve registered through Namecheap.

I used custom DNS both times, but am now receiving this error when trying to get the nameservers to add to Namecheap: “A DNS zone for this domain already exists on NS1, the DNS provider backing Netlify DNS”

I have contacted IBM support about NS1, and they noted it was a common issue they received from users, but that this DNS change needs to come through Netlify support instead of them.

It looks like there are some other forum posts about this issue, but I don’t see a way to change this myself, so i’m looking to Netlify support to remove the DNS configuration that remains around “wosborn.com”.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi there, sorry to hear you are having some domain woes :frowning: What happens is usually a few DNS zones are in their “parking lot” but ultimately NS1 should be able to resolve this. Give this guide a read through, hopefully it will solve your problem. Let us know if it doesn’t.
