We rely on a build cache to keep our website builds performant due to an image compression build stage. With the cache working, builds take ~5 minutes. Without the cache, builds take 90+ minutes.
Recently, we have seen the cache fail to restore - resulting in 90+ minute builds.
In the Initializing log we see:
2:52:06 PM: Fetching cached dependencies
2:52:06 PM: Starting to download cache of 7.5GB (Last modified: 2026-06-09 10:51:57 +0000 UTC)
2:52:23 PM: Downloaded cache in 16.844s
2:52:37 PM: Failed to fetch cache, continuing with build
Note it logs the cache is being downloaded and that the download succeeds, but then reports it failed to fetch the cache.
We’re looking for any insight as to what could be causing that failure; downloading the cache but then reporting it has failed.
