"Another site is already using this domain" — despite correct DNS records

I’m getting the “Another site is already using this domain” error when trying to set custom domain “rosamundmather.com” on the site “condescending-blackwell-9add84”, which has built successfully. When I visit the custom domain, I get a page that says “Created successfully!”.

I’ve checked with my domain provider and the DNS records contains the correct Netlify A-name and CNAME. 24 hours have passed so I’m not sure what’s gone wrong.

I previously used this same domain on a Netlify site which I have since deleted, in case that’s relevant.

hi there! totally relevant. We need to pull a special lever to get the domain name back to a Good Place if it was previously associated with a now deleted site. It’ll take us a day or so to make that happen, we’ll check back here when we’ve had a chance to do so.
