Unable to Confirm Email for Netlify Identity – Redirect Loop

Hi Netlify team,

I’ve been trying to set up Netlify Identity with my site ayanfecreationswebsite.netlify.app using Git Gateway and Decap CMS.

Everything seemed correctly configured, but I’m stuck at the email confirmation step:

  • I received the confirmation email from no-reply@netlify.com.

  • When I click the confirmation link, it redirects me to the live website but doesn’t complete the confirmation.

  • In the CMS login, it still says: “Email not confirmed.”

  • I’ve tried resending confirmation and resetting the password, but the issue persists.

  • My user (galorichie6040@gmail.com) shows up under Identity > Users, but it’s not fully confirmed.

I’ve already checked:

  • Git Gateway is enabled

  • config.yml and /admin/index.html are correctly set up

  • Site is deployed from GitHub and updates correctly

Can you help me troubleshoot or force confirm the user account?

@galorichie Netlify Identity became deprecated earlier this year (2025-02-28).

You should not be using it for new projects, see:
https://www.netlify.com/changelog/deprecation-netlify-identity/

The Deprecated phase at Netlify has the following definition:

A feature or functionality marked as deprecated is still available, but we don’t recommend its continued use or adoption for new use cases. Before any deprecated feature reaches end of service, Netlify provides time and guidance to migrate off. While breaking changes are unlikely until a service is shut down, there may be degraded quality and stability during a deprecation period.
