Hi,
I’m hoping someone can help with an SSL renewal issue that has become quite urgent.
My site is hosted on Netlify with Cloudflare DNS. The website itself is working correctly, but certificate renewal is failing and the current certificate expires on 18 June.
The error I am receiving is:
Unable to verify challenge for *.humanitieschallenge.com: DNS problem: NXDOMAIN looking up TXT for _acme-challenge.humanitieschallenge.com
The current certificate appears to include:
- *.humanitieschallenge.com
- humanitieschallenge.com
However, I have never configured any wildcard domains and only use:
I have already:
- Confirmed the site is working normally
- Confirmed the domain is correctly attached in Netlify
- Changed Cloudflare records from Proxied to DNS Only while troubleshooting
- Waited for DNS propagation
I also have two other Netlify sites showing very similar wildcard certificate renewal errors, which makes me suspect there may be a broader configuration issue rather than a problem with a single domain.
Could someone please advise why Netlify is attempting to renew a wildcard certificate and what I need to do to restore certificate renewal?
Many thanks.
