To me, Netlify is many things. A host, a CDN, a CI pipeline, a great way to run edge functions, etc. I love and cherish Netlify and recommend it to all my clients, big and small.
What Netlify is NOT, to me, is a vibe coding tool.
The new “Build with an AI agent” feature is visually intrusive, and takes up a lot of screen real estate. It would be great if we could disable it. I will never want to have an LLM triggered from inside my hosting panel make changes to my codebase, it’s honestly absurd. What’s even worse is nosy-but-tech-illiterate clients playing around with it and expecting things to happen that categorically cannot (or should not) happen.
I understand investors want to see “AI” slapped onto everything. But please do understand that there are countless people out there who, at best, only feel annoyed about this onslaught of slop.
In my opinion, a global “No AI” setting would fix this. You guys can continue to stuff AI into every nook and cranny, and the rest of us can just toggle that switch and never have to deal with it. A global setting to not have the AI agent, not have the AI Chatbot, AI Search “enhancements”, etc.
Sure, AI is all the rage, currently. But what will follow is an inevitable Anti-AI pushback. Might as well get ahead of the game!
