Role gated pages on localhost

Stack: Vue Nuxt. Netlify CLI. Using _redirect file to set up gated content. It works when deployed , but running netlify dev I cannot get it to work. basic example of the redirect file would be /private /private 200! Role=admin /private /login 302! How to get Identity work for local development

I’ve added the identity and it works nicely when deployed. I can access the user via netlifyIdentity.currentUser(). How do I make it work for localhost?
