Netlify Env Secrets

I recently saw that there’s a SECRET field in the env var. I’m quite confuse with this because does it mean that if we added our value directly on the value field, this can be accessed by all publicly?

I remember vercel automatically converts everything into a secret to protect the env. Would appreciate if anyone can explain this SECRET feature here. Thank you.
