hmm, do you by chance have two such files in your repo? one at the root, and one in the base directory?
Also could you confirm that your file uses regular quotes? " - the ones you have in your example are “smart quotes” which will not work.
Hey @yepstein1, we haven’t forgotten about you- just need to escalate this issue to our backend team since we’re seeing some weird errors in our logs for this case. We should have more news this week and will update you here when we do.
+1 thank you for keeping me updated.
Hey @yepstein1,
as promised, we have a chance to the backend team about this, and we are still investigating. As soon as we know something concrete, we’ll get back to you
Hi @yepstein1,
I looked at one of your deploys on Sep 21, 2020. In the netlify.toml file from that deploy I can see a line at the end of the file with a lot of whitespace characters, nearly 34,000 on a single line. We believe this is causing some issues for our parser and causing the build hangs you’re experiencing.
Could you take a closer look at that file and make sure there are no extra whitespace characters at the end? Another quick way to check is to list the file size in the terminal and make sure it reflects the correct file size of approximately ~80 bytes.
Cheers,
Mike
Thanks. seems like that was the problem. Btw how were you able to tell that there was so much white space?
Great to hear that helped!
If I opened the netlify.toml file in vim I could see the whitespace near the end.
