etc… etc…

hi there, could you say a litlte bit more please? I’m not sure i quite understand. Do you own one of these sites? if so, which one? thanks.

I believe the site owned by @ApOnderdelen is https://vikingchoice.nl (the target.)

The .netlify.app sites appear as simple sites geared to rank in search results but offer little content (only images from other websites.) Most of the links lead nowhere and there are more tracking/ad scripts in the source than I would ever care to see.

Bad backlinks (as I understand) hurt search rankings for legitimate sites.

I’m not sure the publisher(s) of the .netlify.app sites are technically breaking the use or service agreements. (I see this as unfortunate as they are potentially not sites I would see Netlify wishing to host on their service.)

Hi,

Like Coelmay said. We (Vikingchoice.nl) are getting links from these subdomains which impact our DR (domain rating, also called Authority) in a bad way. Because these subdomains that are linking in have no valuable and/or relevant information to our content.

Normally backlinks are good, as long as they have a good value rating and/or relevant information to your content.

In the past the black hat seo thing to do was to flood your website with all possible backlinks to start ranking on (for instance) Google.

Google, and other search engine then battled this by punishing the receiving end with penalties.

But in our case, we are getting bad backlinks unsolicited.

Thanks for the explanation!

We’ve reviewed the linking site and it looks like SEO spam, so I’ve removed it from our network and banned its creator since this is a violation of our terms of service. Individual links aren’t really against the rules, but sites designed for !human use are, and there is no way a real person would “consume” that “content”.

In the future, better to send these types of reports to fraud@netlify.com where we’ll be able to see and respond to them more quickly
