Using formsubmit.co with data-netlify="true" attribute in contact form

I’m brand new to Netlify. I just launched my first site: levdomains.com. It is a static HTML site based on a third-party template that I have modified.

I’m having trouble getting my contact form to work here on Netlify.

The original template used PHP, which I have taken out and replaced with https://formsubmit.co/ because I want to be able to get messages in my own inbox, rather than need to remain logged into this new Netlify account just to see when new messages are posted.

With that said, I wouldn’t mind also using the “netlify” attribute (Forms setup | Netlify Docs) to have messages posted to my Netlify account as well. (I don’t anticipate getting lots of messages through this site/form, but I do anticipate receiving a few.)

The problem is that I can’t get the contact form to work here on Netlify with or without the “netlify” attribute. I’ve looked over the setup instructions linked above many times, I don’t think I’ve missed anything, but still my form won’t work. Can I not use https://formsubmit.co/ here on Netlify? Why won’t any messages post to my Netlify account since I have used the data-netlify=“true” attribute?

Here are my most current changes:

<form name="main-form" id="contact-form" action="https://formsubmit.co/admin@levgroup.net" method="post" data-netlify="true">

Any help will be appreciated to get this contact form working here on Netlify.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @levgroup

If you have data-netlify="true", then Netlify will try to process form submissions. Using action="" on a Netlify form is for a custom success page.

Yes, you could use FormSubmit, but not in combination with Netlify forms.

Alternative methods to bypass Netlify forms is to use a serverless function, example of which you can find here.
