Use Apex domain to point to another resource

I used to host my website dalp.netlify.app using domain registered externally and nameserver pointed to Netlify’s nameservers - https://dalp.me
Now I want to host the same site on a subdomain, i.e. app.dalp.me and point dalp.me to an external site (say class-proxima.com). Currently I have made app.dalp.me as the primary domain for the website and tried pointing apex domain by creating an ALIAS record to class-proxima.com
The subdomain works correctly and server dalp.netlify.app but the apex domain shows site not found. How can I rectify this?

Hi, @bhumijgupta. This is happening because the special NETLIFY/NETLIFYv6 records block other records.

We have more information about the NETLIFY and NETLIFYv6 type DNS records here:

Please read that support guide above for an in-depth explanation of how these records behave with our service. The three key points there are summarized as:

  • These records are locked by default and can be unlocked by our support team.
  • These records only connect domain names to IP addresses.
  • These records do not control which site the domain name is linked to (if any).

If you want to delete some of these records, I’ve unlocked these records for that custom domain now. If there are other questions about this, please let us know.
