Successful deploy but website doesn't update

Hi there,

This morning I tried to deploy a new post on my website (netlify site name: trusting-austin-c388d7.netlify.app) which is structured and coded by using a Hugo theme and deploys from GitHub.

From the deploy logs I can see that my repeated deploy attempts have all been successful, but the new page does not appear on my homepage. When I manually try to access the new page via the direct URL, I get the β€œ404. Page not found” error.

I was able to update my website last week without issue, so I’m not sure why this is suddenly happening. I have been able to update content on an existing page today, which makes me more confused about why the new page isn’t making it to my website.

Hi @Lincoln

I am wondering if this is a date-based issue.
If you have set the post date to 1 October, 2021 (as it currently is in Australia) this date is in the future in Netlify’s build system (as mentioned here.) Also mentioned in that post is the Hugo flag --buildFuture.) As you have not shared your shared your build log I do not know if you are/aren’t using it, but it is possibly worth investigating if you aren’t.

Hi @coelmay, thanks for your response.

If the build log is the same as the deploy log, I’ve added this below. There doesn’t seem to be any reference to --buildFuture, so I’ll take a look into this.

The deploy log shows everything ok. Your build command is simply hugo. Information on future (and draft/expired) here.

Thanks, I’ll check that information out.
