One of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team - Please help to remove the existing domain

Hey Team,

I have a site I need to deploy. When I went to Add a custom domain under Domain Management. I received the error:

or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team.

I previously used same domain, but unexpectedly I have deleted that account and created new account with same name. I don’t have option of removing the domain from the previous account/application.

I have added adding a TXT record to my DNS settings.

Is there anyway to force it and speed up the verification process. Our IT team is ready to quickly verify domain ownership and it’s a blocking issue. Thanks.

Ameer

Hi Team, I have added TXT record in my DNS settings. Please help me to verify

@netbook4contact What’s the domain name?

@nathanmartin
Domain name is netbook-tech.com

@netbook4contact Looks good to me:

@Melvin @hrishikesh This one appears ready to go.

@nathanmartin Is there anything I should do to configure this domain now. I am still getting same error.

@netbook4contact All you can do now is wait, as it’s a manual process that needs Netlify’s staff.

Three years ago I requested that it be made self-service, but there’s been no motion on the request.
If you would have preferred to have been able to do it yourself without waiting, feel free to “like” that thread or comment.

The domain has been removed from the previous account.

Thank you @hrishikesh

Thank you @nathanmartin . its solved now

Hi, @Kenolise :wave:t6: welcome to the Netlify support forums!

This is happening because the custom domain you’re trying to use already exists on Netlify under a different account.

Please verify domain ownership and let us know by responding here when that’s done. This is what I see right now.

 host -t txt verified-for-netlify.uncloudy.co
Host verified-for-netlify.uncloudy.co not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

If the verification is successful we can remove the domain from the other account so you can use it on yours.

@Kenolise The name of that TXT record looks incorrect.

The instructions say that it should be:

name = verified-for-netlify

The value would be:

https://answers.netlify.com/t/one-of-its-subdomains-is-already-managed-by-netlify-dns-on-another-team-please-help-to-remove-the-existing-domain/128157

@Kenolise Confirmed, looks good to me now.

Now you’ll just need to wait for one of Netlify’s staff to confirm and do the removal.

Hi, Kenolise. Thank you for making the verification TXT record. Now that the verification is complete, please feel free to delete it at any time.

The domain as been removed from the other account and it should be possible for you to add it now. However, if you still cannot or if there are any questions, please reply here to let us know.
