Nameservers seem correct but no A record

Hi! I changed the nameservers to Netlify’s weeks ago (and then forgot about it) but the site hasn’t resolved yet, it’s missing A records.

Netlify site is https://tharshetests.netlify.app/ and the domain is https://porchy.co.uk and I’ve checked that the nameservers are correct, here is a copy and paste of the nameservers I’m meant to use:

Where am I going wrong? (Is it a stupid typo? I can’t see it!) Thank you!

hmm, are you able to add an A record?

I could but it said that it would happen automatically and not to add the Netlify A records? So it could do it dynamically. Or that’s how I understood it!

I’m happy to set it up with A records although I’ll probably switch back to the domain registrar if I need to do that. (What is the IP address to use?)

Is it supposed to work though? I’m not sure if something’s going wrong or if I misunderstood. The rest of the dns is set up and working, the mx records, txt and a couple of subdomain CNAME verification entries.

Also, thank you for your help!

Hi, @tharsheblows. Once Netlify DNS is enabled correctly (and it is) to make the link between the custom domain (or any subdomain of that custom domain) and the Netlify site, add the custom domain under Site Name > Settings > Domain management > Custom domains.

For this site, you can find the place to add the custom domain here:

Adding the custom domain to the site settings will automatically create any required DNS records to link the site and the account.

More specifically, it will create NETLIFY and NETLIFYv6 type record and there is more about those record type here.

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please let us know.

Thank you! I have no idea how I missed that, thank you for letting me know.

I’m glad to learn it worked! :+1:
