Name "my_custom" is conflicting the ownership with other existing zones

Hi guys,

I’m trying to put my own domain and having this error:
name is conflicting the ownership with other existing zones

it happens when I try add domain
P.S.: The netlify subdomain is working

What can it be?

Hey there, this is happening because the custom domain you’re trying to use already exists on Netlify under a different account.

If you have some idea of who might be using the domain (maybe a previous collaborator or an agency you’ve worked with in the past?), the quickest way to get this resolved is for you to contact that person directly and ask them to remove the domain from their account here: > “Options” dropdown > “Remove domain”

If you’re not sure, please verify domain ownership and let us know by responding here when that’s done. If the verification is successful we can remove the domain from the other account so you can use it on yours.

Hi! I’m having the same issue. It seems like a problem specific with “” domains. It doesn’t recognize the full domain, only “” part. As the image below shows:

Continuing the previous problem, when I try to setup DNS I have this issue:

Again, it recognizes only the “” part and not the full domain.

Hey @anacoimbrag,
Sorry for the trouble and taking so long to get back to you! We looked into this and usually when we see this error, it’s a straightforward fix. But we could not find a record of another site or account with attached to it. So what we could try to do as a next step is manually create the DNS records you need. What Netlify site are you trying to use on? Thanks!

Hi, i’m having the same issue here. is a new kind of domain from Brazil.

It seems like Netlify is understanding as a subdomain from, but the correct full domain is

  • (from above case)
  • (from above case)
  • and (in my case)

This is the domain provider for the domain:

Hi there,

thanks for bringing this up! We’ve looked into this a little bit and unfortunately the news is that you won’t be able to use Netlify DNS for those subdomains. We have an open issue to make that possible but I don’t have an eta for that yet.

But! You might find this blog post helpful - it outlines other ways you might be able to approach this:
