Knockdog.net or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team

netlify app: https://knockdog.netlify.app
custom domain: knockdog.net

Hello,

I purchased the domain knockdog.net through AWS Route 53 and am trying to connect it to Netlify. However, I keep encountering the error message, “knockdog.net or one of its subdomains is already managed by Netlify DNS on another team.” The domain has not been used on any other team to my knowledge, so I believe it may be an issue with cached domain records on Netlify’s system. Could you please help reset or clear any existing records for this domain?

I can provide proof of domain ownership via AWS Route 53, and I am also willing to add a TXT record to verify ownership if needed.

Thank you very much for your assistance!

Best regards,

@hyerani You should pre-empt their likely request for verification and add it.

Follow these instructions:
https://answers.netlify.com/t/support-guide-verifying-domain-ownership-for-netlify-custom-domain/13765

The value that you would use is:

https://answers.netlify.com/t/knockdog-net-or-one-of-its-subdomains-is-already-managed-by-netlify-dns-on-another-team/129583

Once done, let them know by posting here to say it’s ready to be checked.

Hello, as Nathan mentioned you’ll need to set a TXT record. Right now this is what I see:

% host -t txt verified-for-netlify.knockdog.net
Host verified-for-netlify.knockdog.net not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

When you update the txt record please let us know and I’ll be happy to remove the domain from the other account.

@SamO Hello, I have added the requested TXT record to my domain in AWS Route 53 for verification purposes. Once the verification is complete, please remove the domain from the other account it is associated with and let me know.

Thank you for your assistance!

Thanks for verifying. I’ve removed the conflicting domain, you should now be able to successfully add the domain to your account.
