How to use existing Netlify DNS for secondary project

I had a project, I have set Netlify DNS on that project for my custom domain. For example custom-domain.com

Now I created a second project, and I want to connect this project to sub.custom-domain.com. How can I do this?. I tried to add a CNAME but it did not work, it shows netlify not found page.

I solved it, you just add the domain and click the option for configure later. Then it configures automatically. But it would be nice that ux for this be more intuitive.
