Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. I’m reaching out for help getting my site (votebetter.app) back online after renewing the domain.

**Context:**
I’ve been maintaining the domain through Namecheap with auto-renew enabled, but recently had to renew it manually due to an expired credit card. In the past, renewing the domain was enough for the site to resume working.

**What happened this time:**
After renewing the domain via Namecheap, the site did not come back online. When I visit the URL, I now see this message:

**Your connection is not private**
Attackers might be trying to steal your information (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).
NET::ERR\_CERT\_COMMON\_NAME\_INVALID
Subject: \*.netlify.app

**Namecheap support confirmed:**

- The domain is active.
- DNS records point to third-party nameservers and seem to be propagating.
- The IP address currently associated seems to be a Google-owned IP
- Since DNS and SSL aren’t managed by them, they recommended contacting the hosting provider- which I believe is Netlify? regarding the SSL certificate error and any related hosting issues.

**What I need help with:**

- What are all the factors I need to account for to get the site back up and running? So far I believe I’ve resolved the domain issue. Is all that remains the DNS and SSL?
- Guidance on fixing the error message I see when I go to my site: (NET::ERR\_CERT\_COMMON\_NAME\_INVALID).
- Any steps I should take to restore the site?

I’m not a developer and didn’t originally set this up, so I appreciate any support or clarification you can offer. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Eagerly awaiting your response!

Stephanie

If your domain is active then the SSL certificate on Netlify need to be reissued or linked correctly. Try updating DNS and renewing SSL.
